Flight Simulator 2020 - Microsoft Explains Rules for Paid Mods

Microsoft Flight Simulator will enable everyone to sell their mods. The creators explained the rules of the Marketplace Partner program and confirmed the start date of the game's closed beta.

Paid mods will come to Flight Simulator.

Modern aircraft simulators are a kind of sandbox platforms developed over the years, thanks to add-ons created by third-party companies and the modding community. In this way, content that would normally have little chance of being created can quickly appear. Some time ago it was announced that Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 will have a special store inside the game, where also modders, not only official development teams, will be able to offer their works. Now, the rules on which it will operate, under the name Marketplace Partner Program, have been explained.

The devs are officially starting to show what the game looks like without carefully prepared shots.

Entering the program will be free and possible for anyone who sends their application and is accepted. The devs indicate that they want to accept as many applicants as possible, although initially the number of places will be limited. Modders will set prices for their products themselves, which they will be able to sell without any restrictions also in other places. The marketplace will be built into the game menu and access to it will be faster and easier.

The store will offer the modders a direct insight into the amount of sales and profits generated and will automatically pay out any earnings. However, the entry does not mention a word about the amount of commission that the Marketplace may charge. Those willing can already apply here.

Spectacular views are the main incentive for many players who don't usually play flight simulator games.

By the way, the launch date of the closed beta tests, which will start on July 30, has also been confirmed. A new wave of invitations for those who have expressed their willingness to participate in the Insider Early Access Program will start on July 23, while all those who already have access to the Alpha version have been automatically qualified for the closed beta. The game will be released on August 18.
