The Acolyte is a new TV series from the Star Wars universe that not only takes us back to a time previously unexplored in live-action productions, but also expands in some ways on the canon we are familiar with and clarifies concepts previously not so popular in live-action productions. Leslye Headland has taken a bold approach to her series, unafraid of some changes and original ideas to enrich the world developed by many artists and started by George Lucas.
Who is a Sith Acolyte?
Certainly many people have been intrigued by the title of the series, and more specifically, who this Acolyte is actually supposed to be. So we will explain who he is. Acolyte is a title used among the Sith. The rule of two is well known to all and has undergone some changes over the years. It no longer means that there can be only two Sith in the world, but rather that they appear under the rule of two – the Master and his Apprentice. Their dynamic, in turn, is that the Apprentice seeks to replace his Master, which he can do by killing him. Later, in turn, he takes his own Apprentice under his wing.
When an Apprentice is ready to take the place of his Master, he must first find a candidate tobe his own Apprentice – an Acolyte, that is, someone who is a level below the Apprentice, who has the potential to become one. Interestingly, this Acolyte, if the Apprentice fails to kill his Master, can take his place, nevertheless fulfilling his destiny and becoming an Apprentice, but under the old Master's wing.
An Acolyte is thus simply a candidate for Sith Apprentice, who must prove his worth before he will be considered for the position after a duel fought between the current Apprentice and his Master.
