At the end of State of Play, Sony and Hideo Kojima had a big surprise for us. The Japanese developer, whose Studio is already working on the sequel of the action adventure game Death Stranding for PS5 and a unique horror game OD for PC and Xbox Series X/S, has given a glimpse of the third project currently in (very early stages of) development.

The game in question is Physint (working title).

At this point, let's give the floor to Kojima:

Yes, today, I'm excited to announce that we at Kojima Productions are creating a brand-new action-espionage game. Preparations are underway, but production will begin in earnest after Death Stranding 2.

We have strong experience with Sony Interactive Entertainment, having grown the action-espionage genre together for almost 30 years, and while most of our partnerships with Sony in the past have been for games, they also produce music and films, and this will definitely be a cooperative collaboration.

Hideo also added a few more words on X:

It will be created using cutting-edge technology and the best talents from around the world, both from film and video games. Of course this is an interactive "game," but the look, story, theme, cast, acting, fashion, sound, etc... are all at the next level of "Digital Entertainment" that could be called a "movie."

The title aims to erase the distinctions between games and movies, as announced during the State of Play. Given the current situation of Hideo Kojima and Konami, the game will have nothing to do with the Metal Gear brand. The title will hit PlayStation consoles. On PS5, or maybe on PS6? We don't know yet.

Kojima also made sure to note that he will be celebrating 40 years in the game development industry in two years. Can we take this as some kind of hint? Time will tell.
