As announced by the Super Earth council, the cosmic conflict is escalating and Helldivers 2 players must destroy an absurd number of enemies to fulfill the latest Major Order. This time, Democracy doesn't care whether it's bugs or robots. It's important for players to eliminate over 3.1 billion enemies of humanity.

To encourage participation, all soldiers will be granted complimentary access to the Eagle 500 Bombs Stratagem. Only during the operation, but players certainly don't complain about this temporary privilege - although some fans are concerned that they might inadvertently drop bombs on their allies. Some people also took the opportunity to complain about the modest impact area of the explosion - much smaller than one might expect from the accompanying visual effects (via Reddit).

There might also be worries about whether players will be able to handle an even bigger challenge after the failure of the previous MO, which involved scrapping 2 billion bots. However, it should be noted that most defenders of Super Earth seem to be engaged in the fight against the Terminids and apparently didn't change their preferences during the previous operation. Hence the failure to fulfill that order.

Elsewhere, the Arrowhead Game Studios team revealed where the name of the series came from. The creators devs two expressions related to war: one describing it as a hell of war and the other talking about diving into war. They also wanted to show in this way what the players will be doing during the "game." As previously mentioned, the developers aimed for players to experience as if they were engaging in a fight against superior enemy forces.

Moreover, Johan Pilestedt, the head of the studio, admitted that he himself was also inspired by the name of a dive bomber from the Second World War: Curtiss SB2C Helldiver.

By the way: the name of the studio itself is a play on words on one hand (Johan Pilestedt's surname as "arrow stead"), and on the other hand - an ironic contrast of a "serious, sharp" name with a much less wise company logo.

We also liked the idea that "Arrowhead" sounds like a serious company. Tip of the arrow. Cutting edge. Then you see the logo and the meaning changes into something dumber.
