The Best Specialization for Your Character in Once Human

Choosing the right specializations in Once Human can be tough. Check out our guide to find out the best ways to optimize your character for solo play or to benefit your whole team.

In Once Human, specializations are basically perks you unlock every five levels as part of the Memetic system. These specializations offer various benefits that can enhance your character’s abilities in different ways. Choose the right bonuses to tailor your character to your playstyle.

Once Human – Best Specializations list

Upon reaching the level threshold of your character, you get to pick from a pool of four specializations, each offering different buffs and perks that impact areas like combat effectiveness, resource gathering, and survival capabilities. You can have a maximum of 10 specializations.

Here’s a list of the best specializations you should consider for your character:

  1. Backpack Expansion: Increases your Load Limit by 40. It must be crafted at a Supplies Workbench and placed in your inventory. Remember that it has 14 days durability, and you can’t have multiple expansions.
  2. Pickaxe Forest Foe: This is an improved pickaxe with doubled durability. It allows you to yield 30% more resources and gain 150% of the materials when destroying a tree.
  3. Flamethrower Trap Scorching Blast: Flamethrower Trap deals 30% more damage. When a trap kills and enemy, an explosion is triggered, dealing AoE blast damage to all nearby units.
  4. Stove Long Term Storage: It doubles the shelf life of dishes you cook.
  5. Portable Diving Gear: When this item is in your inventory, you gain 40-100% Max Oxygen, and 20% Swim Speed.
  6. Portable Updraft Cannon: Formula for Cannon that lasts for 30s. You can use it to get +200% Jump Height and can be used 10 times.
  7. Chainsaw Horror Show: Improved formula for Chainsaw with +50% Durability cap +30% Attack Speed, and +100% Chainsaw Melee.
  8. Supplies Workbench Anti-Armor: Workbench yield +30% when crafting AP Ammo and has -50% Crafting Speed.
  9. Adrenaline Shot Phoenix: Improved formula for Adrenaline Shot. When used, you can take less damage for the first 10s after respawning, and slowly recover HP.
  10. Electric Drill Treasure Hunt: Improved formula for Electric Drill. Yields +100% resources when mining for Gold Ore, Silver Ore, and Startrace Ore.
  11. High power Warhead: Formula for rocket launcher that is lighter and deals more damage to buildings and vehicles.
  12. Portable Fridge: Formula for an item that will decrease food spoilage speed by 70-90%.
  13. Spectral Cloak: Formula for a cloak. Activate it to become Cloaked for 120s. When leaving combat, you’ll become Stealthy. You can use it up to 10 times.
  14. Shotgun Turret Volley Fire: Boosts Shotgun Turret damage by 30% and lowers Power Consumption by 30%.
  15. Ultra Grenade: Formula for a grenade with Higher Blast damage, and additional bonus damage against buildings and vehicles.
  16. Super Refinery: New facility that transforms Acid into Portable Mixed Fuel more efficiently.
  17. Stone Structures Intense Defense: Stone Structures gain the Intense Defense effect, Durability +10. The maximum number of Structural items that can be placed in your Territory at any given time is increased by 100.
  18. Rare Crystal Set: Formula for Rare Crystals that can be used in the Electric Furnace. Rare Crystals can be sold for a large number of Energy Links.
  19. Portable Rainwater Collector: Formula for a water collector that can be placed in your inventory. It continually restores Hydration on rainy days and gives a 30-60% chance of obtaining one portion of Dirty Water, Pure Water, or acid every minute.
  20. Harvesting Sickle: Formula for a sickle that has a 20-40% chance of doubling your crop gain when gathering in wild.

Remember, many specializations unlock craftable items or buffs that can benefit your entire team. You can craft these items and share them with teammates by dropping them for pickup. This way, everyone can enjoy the advantages of your specialization choices.
