Release of Baldur's Gate III version 1.0 turned out to be a gigantic success. Over the past few weeks, the devs served us several small patches (so-called hotfixes), and now finally released the first major update.

  1. The list of changes is huge and includes more than a thousand items. It is so long that it couldn't fit in the limit of characters in the news on Steam.
  2. The patch on Steam "weighs" 2.2 GB, and on GOG.com - 4 GB.
  3. The developers have eliminated a number of issues in the game, such as NPCs sometimes noticing the player when they really shouldn't be able to, levitating objects or a bug that caused the ending of Shadowheart's romance scene to not start for some players.
  4. The update also fixes several issues causing visual glitches.
  5. The game's gameplay balance has also been improved, and the game's level of refinement in general has been tweaked.
  6. These are only selected changes. The full list of can be found on Larian's official website. Keep in mind, however, that some descriptions of the improvements may contain spoilers.
  7. Among the highlights, it's worth mentioning that now a small character (e.g., being a halfling) can finally kiss a taller characters, as they have been given the ability to kneel in such a scene.
  8. The developers also announced that Patch #2 will be released soon. This update will focus on performance improvements.

Larian also shared a handful of stats. Since launch, players have spent 200 million hours in the game, or more than 22,000 years. The most popular class is currently the Paladin, but closely followed by the Sorcerer. In contrast, the Cleric is the least popular.

Of the races, players are most fond of humans and elves, followed closely by half elves. In turn, the rarest users choose to play as a dwarf, gnome, githyanki and halfling.

Recall that version 1.0 of Baldur's Gate 3 debuted on PC on August 3. PlayStation 5 console owners will wait until September 6 for their release. The developers are also working on an Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X edition, which will be released later this year.
