Enjoying the excercises, i think it is effective. There are some nuances in regards to listening excercises that should be improved. When you press the word to hear it again you have to do it once or twice to hear a full annunciation. Otherwise its partial and you could pick the wrong word. Once you know that, its pretty smooth, this is a really innovative learning method. A solid 4 stars!

I used to love this app when they had a tree. It allowed me to focus my language learning/practice on the areas that were weak, while passing by the sections that I had easily grasped. Now I am locked into a learning path that is mind numbingly slow and repetitive. I end up repeating things over and over again that I don't need, and it is hard to access sections I need. I lose interest quickly, and don't progress. Go back to the tree, or give us an option to revert to that format.

So far so good! I incorporated a notebook into my learning as if it were a class. I write down notes, vocabulary, words I need to brush up on or the structure of the word for the sentence. In my spare time, I look it up online or I ask a coworker that's a native speaker of the language I'm learning. As long as you don't focus on the trophy placement,(trying to rush and get to 1st) learning from Duolingo is amazing.
