Research and Destroy is an action game with turn-based strategy elements. It was developed by Implausible Industries and published by Spike Chunsoft.

Plot

Research and Destroy spreads before us a grim vision of the world in which humanity has been decimated by hordes of monsters. Not all is lost, however, as a trio of brilliant scientists - Larry, Gary and Marie - face off against werewolves, vampires, the living dead and other monsters, aided by their talking car, the RADvan. The squad must do everything in their power to develop an effective weapon and destroy the monsters that oppress humans once and for all.

Game mechanics

In Research and Destroy we observe the action from the third person perspective (TPP). As the title suggests, we travel to different corners of a fictional version of Europe to investigate paranormal threats, develop weapons and upgrades that are effective against various monsters, and finally destroy everything that stands in our way.

What makes this title special is the fact that the gameplay takes place in turn-based mode. When it's our turn to make a move, we have full freedom - we can take control of individual characters and move around the map, as well as shoot at inactive opponents or set elaborate traps for them. It is necessary to show tactical skills in order to make it as difficult as possible for the enemies to thwart our plans. When the countdown comes to an end, the opponents' turn begins - then there's nothing left for us to do but passively watch their actions.

Game modes

Research and Destroy can be played solo or in co-op mode (split screen or over the Internet).
